Programme Overview

This three-module programme is designed to provide a progression path for persons with or without a third level qualification who aspire for a career change into manufacturing, quality or process engineering. Designed by industry experts, its practical content is aimed at existing employees who wish to re-skill or for unemployed persons who wish to upskill and maximise their opportunity for employment. Delivery method of the programme is Blended or Hybrid learning. This means that learners will have full access to course material 24/7 as well as interact real-time on a weekly basis with fellow learners and course tutors.

Programme Content

The programme content comprises of three modules which are delivered concurrently as follows:

Module 1 – Q.C, Inspection & Test

  • Quality Control concepts.
  • Reading and interpreting blueprints, symbols and components.
  • Measurement and Inspection.
  • Inspection and Test Techniques.
  • Acceptance Sampling.
  • Management of non-conforming material.
  • Metrology and Calibration.
  • Risk Management
  • Quality audits.

Module 2 – Lean Six Sigma

  • Seven Quality Tools.
  • Lean Principles & Tools.
  • Overview of DMAIC methodology.
  • Six Sigma Concepts & Tools.
  • Six Sigma Statistics.
  • Additional Management and Planning Tools.
  • Measurement Systems Analysis (MSA).

Module 3 – Data Analysis

  • Introduction to data analytics software tools.
  • Basic Statistics with data analytics tools.
  • Collecting and Visualizing Process data.
  • Statistical Decision-making.
  • Introduction to Design of Experiments – terms and definitions.
  • Statistical Process Control.
  • Introduction to Process Capability Analysis.

Learning Outcomes

Upon completion of this programme, learners should be able to:

  • Fill a functional role as a Quality Control Technician.
  • Actively take part in lean Six Sigma process improvement projects as a Green Belt.
  • Competently collect, visualize, analyse and interpret process data and draw meaningful conclusions about its performance and capability.
  • Optionally sit the American Society for Quality’s Certified Quality Technician (CQT) or Certified Six Sigma Green Belt (CSSGB) exam.

Who Should Attend

Process owners, Personnel from Manufacturing, Quality, Inspection & Test, Process Validation etc. It is also suitable for unemployed persons who wish to maximise their chances of gaining employment in engineering, medical device or general manufacturing industries.

Minimum Entry Requirements

Persons with Leaving Certificate or equivalent, QQI Level 6 or equivalent, manufacturing, quality or process experience are all eligible. Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) will apply.

Terms and Conditions

Cancellation Policy

Events Cancellation Policy: Cancellations will be accepted up to 72hrs before each event. Events which are cancelled within 72 hours of scheduled date shall incur a cancellation fee equal to 50% of the agreed cost. Registrants who fail to attend the event will be charged 100% of the full fee. This policy applies to all events.

 

Training Cancellation Policy

Registrants who cancel over 2 UNITs in advance of scheduled training date shall incur no cancellation fee. Registrants who cancel within 2 UNITs of scheduled training date shall incur a cancellation fee equal to 50% of the cost. Registrants who give less than 24 hours’ notice or fail to attend training will be charged 100% of the full fee.

Irish Laws

These Terms & Conditions are governed by Irish Law. Place of Litigation is the Republic of Ireland. These conditions shall be governed and construed in accordance with the laws of Ireland, and the customer submits to the exclusive jurisdiction of the Irish Laws.
